Electric 2 wheeler charging in high rise buildings - Pranshu - 11-02-2025

I have been struggling to charge and maintain my Ola Electric 2 wheeler inside my flat of a high rise building from a reputed builder.

While I maintain all safety protocols to carry, charge and maintain the EV inside my flat by cleaning and servicing it inside the flat and charging under my supervision (avoiding charging at nights), apartment residents and Governing Body keep harassing us by stopping the vehicle from using the service lift which is used to safely carry the vehicle with me like a bicycle.

It may sound absurd to some but I have been doing this for more than 3 years and have ensured complete safety and compliance of fire control protocols while knowing it's the safest vehicle to maintain as there has been only 1 (or 2?) odd incidents of unattended charging outside of houses at night causing fire while Ola has sold more than 10 Lacs vehicles till date. I also do it as a statement to ensure that such vehicles don't face scrutiny for being absolutely safe to charge and prevent tempering and damages at basements by rats and random people curious about the vehicles.

Carrying the vehicle with us ensures no additional use of lifts to charge and maintain downstairs and safety inside the flats while it remains clean in a dust free environment.

Apartment maintenance is outsourced to Cushman & Wakefield which keeps harassing us and not allowing charging using the designated electric 3 wheeler charging spot (I am willing to pay for it as well as per domestic tariff). Also, vehicle loose critical updates for 3 to 4 months when vehicle is forced to park in basement for several weeks and hence it's critical for me to have network connectivity as ride stats also get lost due to no network.

How should I handle this harassment and intimidation as CW Security Officer even called police when I left the vehicle inside service lift which was forcefully stopped by the security when trying to carry the vehicle. There are no documented byelaws which prevents use of service lifts to carry and charge Electric 2 wheelers and I don't think they can be drafted as that would mean they have to provide community charging as mandated by law as having seperate, dedicated charging for an electric 2 wheeler becomes cost prohibitive and counter intuitive as am told to pay for hundreds of meters of wiring in a rented flat with no safety of charger and vehicle, and ofcourse no internet to monitor and update the vehicle stats and software. Cost of a dedicated charging infrastructure would be 10x to 100x that of charging it during its ownership period. And of course, internet is needed for its normal operations.

Appreciate brainstorming and common practices like community charging in apartments as even 1 or 2 trips in large lifts here would cost more than charging the vehicle! So having dedicated charging only to monitor it's usage becomes counterintuitive and incomprehensible.

Electricity consumption for the past 1 year. This has always been the pattern with me consuming around 200 units in an entire year! Monitoring this stat is critical to monitor capacity loss and impact of each MoveOS and BMS software.

I charged for 30 mins to complete charging from 94% till cell balancing and then put on vacation mode. It reduced to 95% just like before charging.
